How We Got Here
How we met
Grant and I met online in 2022. He swiped right, and all I had to do was match. After spending some time getting to know each other—with him playing just a little hard to get—we finally arranged to meet not long after my dad’s passing. Looking back, I know our meeting wasn’t by chance. Grant came into my life at exactly the right time, bringing love, comfort, and joy when I needed it most. He loved me for who I was, embraced my journey, and quickly became my greatest blessing. From that first swipe to forever, our love story has been one of perfect timing, unwavering love, and God’s grace.
The proposal
If there’s one thing about Grant, it’s that he knows how to keep a secret. Looking back now, all the little things that didn’t make sense suddenly make perfect sense. The day before the proposal, I told him I was planning to spend the morning with my mom and that we could celebrate together later that day. Without hesitation, he said no. He insisted that we had to go quad biking because everything had already been booked. I remember thinking, Why on earth are we driving all the way to Grabouw just to go quad biking? But he was unusually determined, saying we had to do an activity before celebrating. I had no idea why he was being so persistent, but I trusted him. The next day, we set off to Grabouw. We had an incredible time quad biking, and once we were done, our guides suggested taking a short hike to see a nearby waterfall. “Short” turned out to be a bit of an understatement! The trail was steep, muddy, and slippery, and with every step I wondered whether it was really worth it. By the time we reached the top, there was barely enough room for us to stand. Then, in a single moment, everything changed. He asked me to be his wife. Needless to say, I forgot all about the muddy hike and the long drive. It turned out he had been planning one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives all along.
